INSPIRING THE NEXT GENERATION
Great Britain's (GB) Taekwondo Paralympic programme is dedicated to the development and support of para-athletes competing in Para Taekwondo. Para Taekwondo became an official Paralympic sport at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, and since then, GB Taekwondo has been actively involved in preparing athletes to compete at the highest level in this dynamic sport.
The primary goal of the Paralympic Programme is to identify, recruit and develop athletes across all future Paralympic weight categories who demonstrate potential to succeed at Senior World & Paralympic Games. The Paralympic Programme, alongside the Olympic Programme, is UK Sport funded and based at the National Taekwondo Centre, Manchester.
Fighterbility will help match individuals with local training centres offering inclusive Taekwondo training classes, helping them make their first foray into the sport, gaining the level of discipline afforded by adrenaline-fuelled combat sport training.
Through Paralympic qualification, the project in its essence is about providing young people with upper limb impairments the confidence to get involved in the sport, to find their inner fight and to help grow the community of Paralympic athletes enjoying the benefits of the sport.
